Is It Wrong For A Female To Squat In A Male Friend Apartment?

This question?

For me, I strongly believe it is wrong for a female to squat in a male friend apartment, unless if they are couples. It may be okay if they're engaged or married. However, it all depends on the relationship between both the male and the female.

The idea of imposing restrictions, especially from parents is that women are inherently vulnerable and in need of protection, while men are seen as potential threats. Yes, women should have the right to make choices about where they live and who they associate with without facing judgment or discrimination based on their gender, but with a male friend automatically put the female in vulnerable sexual harassment involvement, overlooking the possibility of platonic relationships between men and women.

Yes, friendship knows no gender boundaries, and it's entirely possible for a woman to share living space with a male friend without any romantic or sexual intentions. But in Nigeria, some people think it's not okay for a woman to stay in a male friend's apartment. From the viewpoint of a safety, this is right.

In Nigeria, women don't have the full freedom to choose where they live and who they stay with, just like men. Unlike in many Western countries. It implies that if a woman stays with a male friend, there must be something romantic or wrong happening. However, I don't deny that a women and men can be good friends without any romantic feelings involved.

Additionally, not letting women stay with male friends limits their options for safe and affordable housing. In Nigeria, finding a safe place to live can be hard, and staying with a friend can sometimes be the only option.

In the end, it is all about safety of the individual in question.
